In sustainability we
are outstanding.
That’s proven to our awards.

Sustainability sealed and certified.

ÖGNI, Blauer Engel, Österreichisches Umweltzeichen, EMAS: we can’t get enough of certificates and sustainability seals because they reflect our aspiration. Because they show that we don’t just talk, we act. And because they spur us on to constantly look for new ways to become even more sustainable. The VIOS Restricted Substance List and the Think! criteria catalogue, whose quality criteria go far beyond conventional environmental standards, serve as strict benchmarks. They include a list of limits for chemicals that must not be exceeded – and to which all our partner companies must adhere.

We also participate in the HIGG-Index, which demonstrates the sustainability of our products along the entire supply chain. Based on this, the Higg Index gives us indications of the measures that we can take to become more sustainable as a company overall.

We like to take the initiative.

But we wouldn’t be legero united if we were content with that. We regularly test our products in ongoing collaboration with recognized testing institutes: more frequently and extensively than many other shoe manufacturers. At the same time, we’ve committed ourselves to participating in the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and successively submitting our sites to EMAS certification. In 2021, our Austrian sites in Feldkirchen near Graz and Kopfing were certified and in 2022 Hungary, Romania and India will follow with the corresponding equivalent. We are also a member of the CADS-Initiative, an association of the largest German-speaking shoe manufacturers and their suppliers. It continuously develops environmental and social standards for our industry. In addition, we are also a member of the Leather Working Group LWG and favour cooperation with leather suppliers certified by the LWG. We find that the more companies participate in established initiatives, the more we can achieve in the market. We show our suppliers that we are consistent when it comes to sustainability and insist that they do the same. All of this is worth it, because ultimately it makes our products safer and more sustainable. For the wellbeing of people and nature.
