Feldkirchen bei Graz, November 2021. The perfect integration of functionality, sustainability and design extends through legero united, much like a shoelace threading through every eyelet. This is also reflected in the new headquarters – the legero united campus – in Feldkirchen bei Graz which was built in an ecologically sustainable manner for employees with their participation. For this the internationally operating Austrian shoe company received the Styrian Timber Construction Award 2021.
Legero united recognises its responsibility as an employer of more than 1,700 employees. This is also reflected in the new company campus in the south of Graz. It is not only considered an architecturally outstanding timber construction project, but also provides the internationally operating company with plenty of space and a place to put its values into practice: “For example, we alleviate our employees’ concerns about the CO2 emissions of our campus building by ensuring that we are largely carbon-neutral,” says CEO and owner Stefan Stolitzka.
A Corporate Campus that Puts People and Nature in the Focus
Up to 350 legero united team members have been enjoying an inspiring workplace at the campus since it opened last year. Together they are pushing forward the strategic development of the shoe company and its three brands legero, superfit and Think!. The company’s goal is to contribute to improving people’s quality of life and conserving natural resources through the production of shoes. The campus is also home to legero united’s largest shoemakers outlet.
legero united Receives the Timber Construction Award in the Commercial Buildings Category
In the category of Commercial Buildings, legero united was awarded the Timber Construction Award 2021 for the outstanding performance of wood as a building material, showcasing its ability to achieve large spans without compromising the architectural sensitivity to the scale of space on the campus. Here, architecture and functionality come together to create an inspiring working environment that was planned with the involvement of employees. “The fusion of inside and outside, the quality of the individual work areas, reaches its architectural pinnacle in the round, publicly accessible sales building, showcasing the excellence of timber construction. The wooden building with its atrium garden provides a sense of intimacy and a campus atmosphere. Architecture and timber engineering have complemented each other perfectly here,” according to the jury’s statement.
