Graz, 18 September 2024. On the evening of 17 September, Trigos, Austria’s award for sustainability and CSR, brought 19 nominated companies – selected by a top-class jury from 165 submissions – to the stage in Vienna’s Palais Liechtenstein to honour their commitment at an official awards ceremony. The Austrian shoe manufacturer legero united was chosen as the winner in the climate protection category for its proprietry eco-database. The eco- database, one of many initiatives of the legero united sustainability ageda, or luna for short, measures the environmental performance of each of the more than 3,500 items in the superfit, legero and Think! collections already at product level. This enables the Austrian manufacturer’s designers to calculate and specifically reduce the carbon footprint of each individual shoe right from the initial design stage. legero united has already committed to the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) in 2021 and defined its target path to emission-free production in line with SBTi criteria. „Our eco-database is a key pillar of our sustainability agenda. It is constantly being updated and will be expanded over the next two years to include further important data sources“, confirms Karin Kapper, Head of Sustainability and Quality Assurance at legero united. „Receiving the Trigos Award is an honour and an incentive for us to continue our efforts consistently.“
