- New legero united campus awarded ÖGNI Platinum certification level
- Significantly lower carbon footprint of the legero united headquarters compared to a modern standard building: Annual savings of 48 tonnes of CO2 from operations alone
- Another milestone in the company’s commitment towards sustainability
The legero united campus, the headquarters of the successful shoe specialist legero united, was certified at the highest possible level of platinum by the Austrian Society for Sustainable Real Estate (ÖGNI).
Since its completion in December 2019, the legero united campus in Feldkirchen bei Graz has stood out for its high architectural quality, resource-friendly construction and impressively comfortable atmosphere. The ÖGNI has now awarded legero united’s 8,500 square metre building complex the highest possible platinum certification level.
Sustainable, Flexible, Social
The ÖGNI is a cooperative partner of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). It recognises particularly environmentally and resource-friendly buildings with high economic and social efficiency that can be used flexibly over generations and have a positive impact on the health, well-being and productivity of their users. As part of the ÖGNI certification process, all essential aspects of sustainable construction are reviewed. It encompasses a total of six areas of focus: Ecology, economy, socio-cultural and functional aspects, technology, processes and location.
Regional, Efficient, Innovative
While state-of-the-art building technology ensures an optimal indoor climate at the legero united campus, the use of regional building materials, such as those sourced from sustainable forestry (PEFC or FSC certified), helps preserve the environment. This alone accounts for 500 tonnes of CO2. A highly efficient geothermal system is used for both heating and cooling the property. For example, the CO2 footprint of the company headquarters is about 28 per cent lower than that of a modern standard building in operation, which corresponds to CO2 savings of about 48 tonnes of CO2 per year.
“Models from the superfit, legero and Think! Collections have already been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel. We are now delighted to have achieved another milestone towards sustainability with the platinum certificate from the ÖGNI.
We are constantly striving to develop legero united, the company, including all of its products, in this direction,” says Alenka Klarica, CCO of legero united.
