Graz, 14 December 2022.

superfit, the children’s shoe brand of Graz-based shoe manufacturer legero united, was voted best shoe brand by consumers surveyed in the Austrian Brand Monitor 2022/2023. Along with awards from the UK and Germany, which the brand also received in 2022, this achievement reaffirms superfit’s position as Europe’s leading children’s footwear supplier.

The Austrian Brand Monitor, conducted by the Austrian Society for Consumer Studies (ÖGVS), annually surveys which brands rank highest among consumers. In an online survey carried out between September and October 2022, approx. 280,000 ratings were obtained for 1,141 brands from 86 segments for the current report and the top brands in the areas of customer satisfaction, quality and value for money were determined. superfit was voted number one by consumers in the footwear segment in all three areas. This is further proof of the trust that the brand has enjoyed among consumers for decades. And that is not just the case in Austria: In a consumer survey conducted in 2022 by a leading magazine for parents, superfit was also voted one of the most popular brands for German families and the top brand in the children’s footwear segment in Germany. superfit recently received an award from the British retail industry as well. In 2022, the brand was recognised as the Children’s Shoe Brand of the Year in a study conducted by the trade magazine Footwear Today, based on evaluations from shoe retailers.

Kristin KĂ€pplinger, Chief Product and Sales Officer at legero united: “We are delighted that superfit is the leading children’s shoe brand for both retailers and our consumers. We are especially delighted to receive these awards during the brand’s anniversary year: superfit is celebrating its 50th birthday in 2022!”

Since its establishment in 1972, superfit has been developing and manufacturing collections on specially designed child-friendly lasts, taking into account the entire anatomy of a child’s foot. In the process, experts such as doctors, orthopaedists and testing institutes are closely involved to ensure the perfect fit for every child’s foot. superfit has maintained close cooperation with the German Shoe Institute for decades and orients all developments to the renowned WMS¼ width measurement system.

“The awards we received for superfit in 2022 provide us with both an incentive and an obligation with regard to the quality and sustainability of our children’s shoes,” confirms Kristin KĂ€pplinger. superfit produces its shoes in a particularly sustainable manner. Slippers, for example, are made exclusively in Europe. In 2013, the company’s own development platform for sustainable materials and products, VIOS, was launched. It deals with the topic of sustainability from a scientific perspective. With the VIOS Restricted Substance List, a separate standard was then created: It imposes significantly more stringent requirements than the legal requirements or quality seals. With the company’s proprietary eco-database, which was awarded a prize by the Austrian Federal Environmental Agency, it is possible to calculate the CO2 footprint of each product in a collection and then reduce it systematically by taking suitable measures. It is also committed to key industry initiatives and gives priority to working with leather suppliers who are certified by the Leather Working Group LWG. “Our goal is to be CO2 neutral by 2030,” according to Kristin KĂ€pplinger.
