Sustainably committed. In initiatives and partnerships.
We believe: The more companies participate in established environmental initiatives, the more impact we have on the market. That’s why we participate in numerous initiatives. First and foremost, in the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi), to which we have already committed ourselves in 2021. The SBTi provides companies with a science-based methodology for defining CO2 targets that are in line with the Paris Climate Agreement. We use the industry-leading Higg index, which shows the sustainability of products along the entire value chain. We are also member of respACT as well as the cads initiative, an association of the largest German-speaking shoe manufacturers to continuously develop ecological and social standards for the shoe industry as well as of the “Naturschutzbund Steiermark” (Styrian nature conservation union), which is specifically committed to sustainable development in Austria.
As a shoe manufacturer, you can’t stand still.
So that sustainability can move forward.
The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is the world’s leading cotton sustainability initiative. We preferably cooperate with BCI certified suppliers, as these partnerships guarantee that strict ecological and social standards have been maintained during the manufacturing of the cotton materials. In addition, we rely on products with GRS certification (Global Recycled Standard), an internationally recognised standard that ensures that products are made are made from recycled materials and meet strict environmental and social criteria.
Models with a GRS certification contain at least 20% recycled materials, which contributes to waste reduction and resource conservation. In addition, for the manufacture of our collections, we preferably cooperate with leather suppliers that are Leather Working Group (LWG) Gold and Silver certified – the LWG defines the global standards for the leather industry and certifies tanneries.
Commitment is our permanent mode: Our pool cars, which all employees can access as needed, have been supplemented with e-cars. Our charging stations for e-cars are available to both our employees and our customers – free of charge. Another contribution to sustainable business: we do not destroy returned or sample shoes or B-goods. On the contrary: we give these shoes away to many charitable initiatives so that they can continue to serve people in need for a long time to come. In this way, no shoe is left without a suitable foot.
